OPINION – The Queen of Dumfries: ADHD or Magic 8-Ball?

by The Derecho

Even the Queen’s most loyal subjects would have to admit that her tenure on the BOCS has often been marked by inconsistent and at times apparently capricious votes.  Those who would see her go the way of Marie Antoinette have less kind words for her behavior.

Ms. Caddigan has a long history of promising one thing and voting the opposite, a circumstance opponents of Avendale can well attest to.  Not surprisingly, it would appear that her erratic behavior extends to her representation on the VRE board.  At Friday’s meeting in back to back votes, Caddigan switched her vote.  The WAPO article is unclear as to whether the change in her vote was to support or spite Supervisor Covington but it does raise the question as to whether or not she is ADHD or simply uses a Magic 8-Ball before every vote.

It would be interesting to hear her reasoning but there must have been a pressing tree planting somewhere as she left the meeting early and without comment, typical behavior by her royal majesty.

PWCPolitics.com notes:

Avendale is in reference to the Linton Hall Project.

Ms. Caddigan is County Supervisor Maureen Caddigan of Dumfries.

Supervisor Caddigan supposedly pledged her support for an independent audit into a conflict of interest/possible fraud investigation as part of her position on the VRE Board. She voted ‘yes’ for the audit and changed her vote to ‘no’. The FBI also has interest into certain aspects of what happened/didn’t happen prior to even the board’s vote.

Truth is there is a storm brewing in Haymarket and Gainesville and oft times, the politically incorrect needs to be stated.”
